In 1864 when Robert E. Lee moved the Richmond Carbine section from Richmond, Virginia to Tallassee, Alabama I know he took civilian from the Richmond Ironworks and moved them to Tallassee, and I believe my GR GR Grandfather John Charles Matthews
was amongst those civilian workers. The Bible records for the Matthews children show my grandfather as being the only child of their not born in Virginia (now West Virginia). Is there a list of these men and family that moved to Alabama?
