You are correct, the digital photography process does not reverse the image. I was referring to computer photo editing software that allows you to horizontally flip the image around. Thanks for the info about the period photography process reversing the image. That explains why I've seen most buttons on the left. I guess one would have to decide between displaying the true image of the person or the true image of the original photo.
