I have just started skimming through my copy, and one thing that really surprised me was the number of British mess tins imported - a lot more than I believe any of us thought before. And they apparently came in as Ordnance Items, not Quartermaster items, and the CS authorities had a hard time deciding what to do with them. Some arsenals treated them as general issue items, and some held them for sale to officers.
