Re: Richmond ramrod
In Response To: Richmond ramrod ()

The Richmonds used an identical ramrod to the rifles produced at Harper's Ferry following the capture of the machinery there. The ramrods for Richmond produced Rifles are all of the 1861 Springfield, straight, no swell, tulip design. The Swelled ramrods used on the 1855 series of U.S. arms were abandoned in 1860 buy the superintendant of Harper' Ferry, Burton. The very first, perhaps 2,000 Richmonds could have had the swell, as 2,000 odd ramrods were captured at Harper's Ferry. (Paul Davies' "C.S. Armory Richmond")

Is your Richmond original, or repro?
