A computer geek may be able to scan the inscription and then enhance it with the proper software. I've taken mediocore pictures and with my minmal computer knowledge and cheap scanner, have been able to improve the quality of photos. The revolver shown here, while still not a great picture, was almost a "black blob" when I first viwed it when it e-mailed to me. But playing around with it on my scanner brought out at least some of the detail.
