Hi, I have a Spencer carbine and the serial number is 101588. That appears to be a larger number than I have seen listed anywhere and I am wondering if it is a fake or just one of the later manufactured carbines after the civil war. I was told it was a 56.56. I bought it for my father about 25 years ago from the widow of his former employer from the early 1950's. His former employer had it for many years prior. That is all I know. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
