Thanks Joe, I recently found a Bowie knife on Confederate camp. I thought it might be a D guard bowie with the D guard missing but I now believe it is just a Texas Bowie knife. The measurements match your description 14" overall length, 1 1/2" width blade and an undersize 1/8" blade thickness.
