Hi! I stumbled upon this forum and was hoping someone might be able to help me or perhaps point me in the right direction.

I have recently received a M1862 Sharps & Hankins patent naval carbine with the matching serial number of #11,143. I am trying to determine the history of this serial number - when it was produced (month and year of production and/or delivery - which I've found for other
period firearms, such as Remmingtons and Colts) and if there is a record of this gun being issued to a specific regiment or state?

Any information you might have regarding this serial number or the name of any resource (website or publication) that you might know of with
such information would be greatly appreciated!
