Re: identifying rifle parts found

I beg to differ with Mr. Hill. I still beleive the D&C anchor stamp to be the mark of O P Drissen. A french style Model 1857 rifled musket in my collection is stamped on the lockplate P Drissen& Cie. It has numerous D&C anchor stampson the lock, barrel, and bands much like the stampings one finds on the Brazilian Enfield. I also believe that the vast majority of S&K Solingen bayonets with the D&C anchor stamp to be for the Brazilian Enfield. Finally as for the stamp being a Northern Naval mark I have only one question . Why put so many stampings on each musket? It makes far better sense if the stamp markings were put on the individual parts before the gun was assembled.
