Gentleman: Here is a typical supply wagon with a 6 mule team from 1861 judging from the Sibley tents in the background. Assuming that the wagon is 10 feet at its base then it's overall length of the rig would be about 31 feet. Throw in 15 between wagons and this totals 45 feet. Post 1861 this would probably be reduced to 4 mules for a total of 38 feet assuming the same spacing. And judging from the dead animals in photographs from Gettysburg this could be reduced to 2 mules or 32 feet assuming the same spacing. How many angels were on that pin? Proportionalize it for yourself. Hope this helps.
