Dave, thanks for your 2/10/04 post of the great picture of the supply wagon with the six mule team, which I enjoyed. I also enjoyed seeing your 2/3/04 very informative post of the Traveling Forge.
Perhaps you can answer a question I have related to shod horses used by the cavalry. I read recently in a Civil War letter where the writer referred to having his horse's shoes "roughed" because his mount had slipped on an icy area. Do you have an idea as to what the term means? and the tool or tools used to "rough" the horse's shoes? Looking forward to your answer.
