I am trying to identify the maker's marks on a Model 1852 U. S. Naval officer's Sword, and I was hoping someone could help me. On the ricasso, is a Shield with the letter S in it, and an oval with a crown over the letter B in it. On the guard is stamped an oval with three stars over a letter, but the letter is illegible. On the top of the blade there is writing in cursive, but all I can make out is the last four letters: THAL.
This sword is I believe a European import, but I would appreciate any help on identifying the manufacturer.
