Re: "SH/C" or SH/G" on Enfield wood -- how to tell

I welcome your good comments. In the case of the enfield I ask about, the wood is clean but the marks are faint, but crisp, if that makes sense -- I doubt it will be possible for anyone to tell whether that third letter is a "C" or a "G".
It is directly under the "S" and not centered under the "SH" -- does the location of that third letter fall within the usual way either of these are usally found?
