I have a sword that looks similar to the standard US Civil War cavalry sabre, but has no edge on the blade. There is a crest on one side of the blade that seems to contain a fancy "F" and below the crest is the word "GERMANY". I have some nice digital photos of the sword that I would be happy to send to someone who knows about these things. I suspect it may have been a dress or ceremonial sword.
