old rifle

I was given an old rifle from my father. I recall my grandfather having it when I was young. I am trying to identify it. It is a cap and ball ramrob rifle. The stock has a lot of brass on it, all totally smooth. On the top of the barrel, I can barely make out the letters T. HUGHES.
The stock has a brass hinged plate that opens to reveal a small compartment. When I was young, it was full of beeswax. I remember this because I got a whipping for eating it. It still has the origional ramrod, and it has 2 triggers. Can anyone help me identify the age or model of this? A friend of mine has a 32 caliber rifle and he says the bore on this one is smaller than his. The bore is also shaped like a multi pointed star.

Thanks a lot.
Dave
