Re: Uniforms of Palmetto Sharpshooters?

David

I had an ancestor in Company "F" of Micah Jenkin's Palmetto S.C. Sharpshooters. He had originally enlisted in the Picken's Sentinals of the 9th South Carolina.

What you are describing was possibly an early war variate Uniform. The P.S.C.S.S. was a composite Unit made up of companies of 4th, 5th and 9th South Carolina Inf. during the reorganization of 1862. So you may wish to look at the Uniforms of these three regiments particularly those uniforms that they were wearing in 1861. From what I can gather that most of the uniforms that the P.S.C.S.S. wore was standard Richmond Depot issue.
