Andrew Chandler was a Sergeant in Company F of the 44th Mississippi Infantry....aka, the Palo Alto Confederates which were raised in Chickasaw County, MS. They were part of Blythe's Regiment, and served with the Autauga Guards. Chandler may have aquired the knife from one of the AG's or simply borrowed it for the photo. Company G, the Autauga Guards and Company I, Sawyer's Independent Company from Talledega, were the only two Companies from Alabama in Blythe's Mississippi Regiment, all others being raised from Mississippi. Company G & I, the two Alabama Companies, transferred to the 24th Alabama Infantry where they consolidated to form Company K.
