You will NOT have check mate if the flag did not come from the 12th TN Cavalry CS. What that means is that the flag came from some other unit there - but that is not your flag so far as we know to date. There is no proof of any connection to December 16th and your flag - plain and simple!

To find casualties in the 12th TN Cavalry CSA one would have to look in their Compiled Service Records card by card.
