Col. R.M. Saffell was KIA at Bentonville as was Lt. Col. Boggess. The 26th TN had been combined into one big TN regiment ( of a whopping 400 men at the time) made up of: 3rd, 18th, 23rd, 26th, 32nd and 45th TN. The combined regiment carried the colors of the 26th TN (AOT) and it was captured there and sent back to TN from Massachusetts.

It is in the collections of the East TN Historical Society today in Knoxville.
