I can across this item on ebay of a 1847 Japanese book with flag plates. If you look closely on the right page under the US flag you can see a couple of Stars & Bars type flags. I am not aware of any other nation that had flag like the First National CS flag before the War. The only thing I can think of was the seller misread the date of the book. I wish I could read the inscription.
