Lot 2081A - CIVIL WAR CAPTURED CONFEDERATE FLAG CIRCA 1862
The flag is correct in every aspect measuring 58 inches on the fly and 38 inches on the hoist. The flag was told to have come out of Pennsylvania and upon examination one can tell it evidently was a captured flag and taken home as a trophy. In several places small sections have been cut out for souvenirs as often seen on captured flags. This flag probably dates to early 1862. One flag similar to this one was captured near Jonesboro in late 1864. The flag is constructed of bunting with cotton stars and with hand sewn eyelets on the leading canvas border. Condition is very good with several tears and rips. Included with flag is frame with backing and plexi-glass face.
