As you know, the Flags of the Confederacy website, begun many years ago my the late Devereaux Cannon, the late Howard Madaus, myself and a host of other flag historians, has been down for about a year. This was due to two reasons. First, the web domain was bought out from under us and, secondly, the site was being used to provide sources for authors and others who used our research in their works without properly crediting us as the source. Some of that research was discovered by myself and while I am happy to share flags knowledge, I do fully expect to be properly credited for it as do the other historians who contribute to the site.

Not to do so is simply theft!!!! Do not use this site without proper credit. I, for one, will be calling out anyone that does publicly!

So after much debate within the flag historians who created the site we have decided to put it back online. It will be available very soon at this new domain: www.confederate-flags.org

This is very similar to the old domain. Content is being uploaded as we speak and I will inform this board when it is ready to go. There will be new content added to it over time. There is also a donation button where those that truly appreciate the site can make donations to offset the costs of keeping it online. Prior to this it has been borne by the historians who created the site. We would indeed appreciate any contributions of any size. Jim Martin, who runs these fine sites, knows well how much this runs financially.

We are happy to have this site coming back online to share over 200 years of combined flag research. We are also going to create a mirror site for Union flags over time as there has been a demand for that as well. Have patience - this will all take time.

One last thing - if it gets back to having our material being stolen as in the past the site will be taken down forever!!!! I am NOT kidding!!!!! I do not steal other people's work and properly cite what I do use and I fully expect the same consideration. The ball will remain in the court of the site visitors for this.
