Hi Greg; I have been wanting to talk with you concerning the 48th MS Flag that is in possession of the Museum of MS History. I have a copy of the file on this flag which states it was captured May 12 1864 @ the Battle of the Wilderness by the 12th N.J. Vol's Carroroll's Brigade. Also noted is "No confirmation of capture is avaliable in the Official Records". Other information included states in Carroll's report that 3 Flags were captured May 12 @ Spottsylvania Court House. What I am out to determine is wheather or not there is definate information that this flag was captured @ "The Angle" with the 48th MS members that were in action there. One piece of info I can not track down is the "War Dept. Capture # 139" that is listed. I would be happy to e-mail you a copy of the Flag file if you do not have it. Could you shed some light on the exact point of capture? Thank You!
