Godfrey mentioned 2 flags in his article, the regimental standard and the flag Custer used during the Civil War; he didn't mention coloring at that time. No one mentioned the red and blue flag. They simple refered to the Custer'd flag or the flag he used during the Civil War.

There was no menton of three flags. So the 2 flags were the red and blue one and either a regulation standard or a yellow flag that men took for a standard. If a yellow flag was used then the question is where was the regimental standard?
