The antique process, depending on the sun & rain, maybe four weeks. The red dye will fade to orange but the blue still looks good for a longer period. I usually sell them to groups that mark Confederate graves. Actually, the cotton muslin (a verity of cotton bunting) is fairly soft, the dye they use make the flag stiff. The U. S. Flag Company (no longer in business) use the same muslin, from the same mill, for their stick U. S. Flags but the dye they used did not stiffen the muslin as much.

I don’t know when they started to print the stick “Confederate” flags, they have been in business since 1869, so the flag she is offering may have been made in 1904 but it looks, in the picture, to be to fresh to be that old.

I gotta get a flag painted and a few more sewn, I’ll check the board latter if more questions arise on ply.
