Wool has a natural waterproofing build in, it’s called lanolin, the yellowish fatty substance that made wool bunting a natural for flag making, bedding and sails on ships. Deferent finishes of the wool material or fibers will give you the feel one wishes to have for the material. Dry finishing, perching, burling, specking, calendaring, brushing, friction calendaring, glazing, etc.. wet finishing, washing, dyeing, soaping, fulling, milling, scouring, mercerizing, souring, etc..
