Hi, Charles, good to see you on here! The 22nd Iowa indeed lost their flag (The only Iowa Regiment to lose a flag out East). I did not know off hand about the 24th Massachusetts. I am not at my house, thus I can not dig through my files. I would enjoy putting you in charge of all the Massachusetts flags, giving you full credit on that state. I have no other associates working on that state, you have found the most from that state and I want you to get full credit.

I have found more Union flags captured, slim pickings but we are still finding them. I personally don't believe this project will ever end, because there will always be "Another one out there". Other great news, I have finished off all of my books, all notebooks are done, that alone was whewwww. I have had the last Seven months off, do to my father's cancer, he is better and I am just awaiting orders to either return to Afghanistan or remain in "Limbo". "Limbo" has allowed me to get much paperwork done and if I just had say two years to work on it day/night it just might come close to being finished. The hardest part is going to find the captured Union flags, I would desire to put that captured flag picture in the pages of the books. I do have some, but the majority are lost to history.

That was an excellent find on both flags!!! Keep up the hard work, don't give up! I will probably be 93 in wheelchair at the National Archives still digging, lol. (I'm serious).

Charles, great to hear back from you!

Have a great day,

Shawn Prouty
