On May 4, 1861 a "beautiful" flag was presented to the Bedford Lt. Arty by the ladies of Liberty, Va.
The flag was purchased through a fund raised by a Mrs. M. A. Reynolds
and painted by a Mr. Samuel Johnson.
James F. Johnson made the presentation speech for the ladies.
C. A. Bowyer made the acceptance speech for the Artillery.
No further description of this flag has been found.
