I dislike even sticking my nose into this subject, for I've found that protesters have no interest in being corrected or "educated" on the subject of their wrath. But this article misleads the reader: What is being proposed is the use of the insignia of a group of citizens and does not purport to be the -- or any specific -- flag flown over Texas (although I daresay it was proudly flown over Texicans assisting allied sister states at one time). To accuse the SCV of the charges leveled marks the writer as the spewer of venom, not the organization identified at the bottom of the proposed plate. While a virtually identical plate has been accepted and is in use in other states, it has weathered similar protests and been supported as expression of free speech. If adopted, individuals must then decide whether to use it and identify with it.
