Just read an older book by Wesley, T, Leeper, Rebel Valiant: 2nd Arkansas Mounted Rifles (Little Rock Arkansas: Pioneer Press 1964). In his work Leeper mentions the Hempsted Cavalry being issued with an early war flag. In particular; the flag is noted as "A beautiful banner". Does anyone known if this flag survived the war and, if so is the flag in a public or private collection.
