For Gregg, 50th Maryland Militia's flag

I strongly believe the two companies of the 3rd Tennessee infantry regiment, captured the 50th Maryland Militia's flag. On June 19th, 1861, at the skirmish at New Creek, West Virginia. Colonel A.P. Hill (13th VA) had two companies in the engagement and Colonel John. C. Vaughn has two companies also in the engagement.

O.R 2, Page 131, leads me to believe that Colonel Vaughn's report had " I regret to say, (A bullet) entered the arm of the Private Smith, of Captain Lillard's company, which was in advance, wounding, him slightly." Notice the word, "Advance". Captain Lillard's company was in the 3rd Tenn. Thus, if they were in advance, they captured the flag and two Six Pound field guns.

Just a suggestion,
