Would anyone have any information on the flag that may have been carried by the Griffin's 21st TX Inf. Batt. (merged in 1864 w/ the 11th TX Batt. [Speight's Batt.] to form the 21st TX Inf. Regiment) They served garrison duty along the upper Texas coast, manning Ft. Griffin at Sabine Pass for most of the war. I am familiar with Speight's Batt. flag. It is currently held at the Sam Houston Regional Research Library in Liberty, TX, where it is awaiting restoration. It is a 1st National pattern w/ 11 stars arranged in rows & columns.
