The power monkey that young Jimmie replaced was a colored Sailor named Tommy.

Captain Johnston withdrew the Forest Rose from the fight after the Confederates plained attack a few days later advanced with six field peaces. The tinclad gunboat withdrew with the 700 or so colored engineers and as much supplies that they could load, mostly cotton.
