After the battle of Chickamauga, General Forrest's cavalry Corps chased down Union soldiers on their way to Chattanooga. The First Louisiana Cavalry commanded by Major John Taylor reported "Five miles of Chattanooga captured splendid colors of the Thirtieth Indiana with 100 Pows." The day was Monday September 21st, 1863."
