I have at the moment several questions that might be appropriate, but wouldn't sustain a new board or be any great contribution to existing boards. For example, a search for information about a Confederate female agent of interest: I wonder if anyone checks in to see what's new on the Women board, given the activity (or lack thereof) of that board, that would make it worthwhile to post. (Still, it could provoke a thread, such as the one here.) I have a question about uniform branch-trim that might be appropriate for an insignia or uniform board, but is there likelihood of notice on a "material culture" board or as a tolerated thread on Arms and Equipment? I would like to learn of sites that specialize in educational info about clothing material and tailoring/sewing practices (to get us all up to speed on terminology and serve new comers -- in fact, to be able to learn of new or newly discovered sites of potentional interest to me and others, a sort of clearing house for new info sources, similar to the occasional "new book" notices).
This might suggest that you test the waters by trying out a sort of (I hate to even suggest the term) Miscellaneous board, a catchall, and watch the stats for signs of interest. I hope others will chime in with their suggestions and expressions of interest, especially for topics not covered. And I supect it will require some patience, for it takes time for the word to spread.
