Hello Gary,

Frederick Phisterer, New York in the War of the Rebellion, Vol I, (1912), p. 134, lists the following flags of the 146th NY as being preserved in the NY Capitol in Albany:

1. Regimental color, blue silk. Painted with the arms of the United States and motto, and inscribed, "Halleck Infantry" "146 N. Y. Vol. Regiment Infantry"; original spear and cord and tassels; staff gone. This color was carried by the regiment in the campaigns of 1862-3.
2. Silk flag, National, mounted upon original staff; spearhead and tassels gone; the flag is very much worn. No inscription found.
3. 4. National guidons, bunting; mounted upon original staffs and in fair condition.

Numbers 3 and 4 appear to be the guidons linked to by Charles Brown. From a photocopied image sent to me years ago by Steven Hill it can be seen that Number 1 was a NY Depot pattern regimental colour with the inscription HALLECK INFANTRY painted between the two arcs of stars above the central eagle. The inscription 146 N. Y. VOL. / REGIMENT / INFANTRY was painted in the three segments of the lower riband.
