The Mystery Continues: Greg Biggs & Ken Legendre

Greg and Ken,

I donot know if you remember, but on a couple of occasions I disscussed trying to locate the flag of the Quitman Light Artillery (Natchez, MS) and you told me that the Chicago Historical Society has a flag that they have labeled as the flag of the Orange Light Artillery, but iis in fact the flag of the Quitman Light Artillery. After much encouragement from the two of you and months of waiting I have recieved an e-mail from them confirming everything that you have posted here during our discussions of this flag, including that they got it in the 1920s from the Gunther Collection. What I still do not know are two things (and I may never know them) 1) is it in fact the colors of the QLA of Natchez (Lovell's Battery) or the QLA of Jackson (Kerr's Battery) and 2) how did it get into Gunther's collection (or rather from whom). They also told me that it has never been photographed as it is in very poor condition, but given the fairly detailed description that I got from Ken (IIRC), I will commision an artist friend of mine to come up with a drawing. Thanks again guys!!!
