The entire 11th Mississippi Infantry Regiment was back in Cashtown, Pennsylvania guarding Major-General Heth's wagon train. The 2nd Mississippi also had from 100-125 (Maybe more) also detached along with LT. Colonel David W. Humphries. Colonel Stone (2nd MS) was wounded early in the fight on July 1st and thus, command passed on to Major Blair. Major Blair surrendered the bulk of his regiment but at least 60-70 escaped.

Before Pickett's charge, Sergeant Varina wrote "There were Sixty muskets on line." (Enlisted soldiers) and I have found 8-9 line officers plus LT. Colonel David W. Humphries. So around 70 of the 2nd MS went into Pickett's Charge and one single enlisted man came back without a scratch.

The North&South Magazine about 3-4 issues ago, had "Bill Spears" "Historian", claimed the 11th Mississippi Infantry Regiment was running from the Raid Road cut and....that "The entire Second Mississippi Infantry Regiment was captured and the first regiment in the Army of Northern Virginia to have done so."

I was like, what the ***** ***** beep beep is this crap? Keith Poulter is just a Union-Biased amateur, he can't afford a editor and thus he is editing his own magazine for at least the last 5-7 years. Keith just does not know about any of the battles, he more political/slavery type person. So without a editor so much garbage goes in his magazines.

I knew way back in November 1997 with the first issue, it was a Union-biased-lets-dump-on-the-Confederacy-as-usual-magazine. Well it's all good, because my "Insiders" tell me that Keith makes very little if any profit off the magazine and many historians will never work for him ever again. I will not use names, but a few are "Big Names". All had the same thing to say, that Keith's ego was more then they cared to deal with and thus they quit.

I've always been into just the battles, so the Blue&Grey magazine has always been my favorite. I don't get into political/slavery issues because they never go anywhere.

Glad to read you knew the Eleventh Mississippi Infantry Regiment did not fight on July 1st, 1863 at Gettysburg.

Have a good afternoon,

Shawn Prouty
