Lynchburg Artillery

Recent research upon this unit known by any of the following:
- Lynchburg Artillery
- Lathams (Va) Battery (Capt Henry Grey Latham)
- 38th Va Artillery Battalion Co.D

Also Captained by Jos Blount, James Dearing and J.W.Dickerson

Unit saw alot of action in the ANV during the war. Near the end during the Appomattox Campaign it was reported by the members that they buried their four guns (never since found). Took the remaining horses and managed to escape around the rapidly enclosing Federal lines. Made it back to Lynchburg where they disbanded.

The "Story" from some survivors of the battery state that one took their flag from its staff, concealed it in his jacket and made off with it back to Lynchburg. I was curious if anyone may know if this or any flag of this unit survives anywhere?. If it may have been donated to some regional or local museum out there Im not aware of, or known to be in a private collection somewhere.
