The Biderman Flag is the only known Confederate flag captured in California during the Civil War. The flag is made of silk, and is a variant of the Confederate first national flag, The Biderman flag has 17 white 5-pointed stars in the canton. There is an Inscribed on the white bar in the middle that reads “Rebel Flag. Captured 4 July 1861. By Jack Biderman.”
Dose anyone know the over all size of this flag?
Also why is it not called the Major J. P. Gills flag? Major J. P. Gills owned the flag and waved on the street before its capture.
