Reid for 3 years, promoted Color Sergeant April, 1863, promoted Ensign to rank as 1st Lieutenant from October 18, 1864 at Petersburg, Va., captured April 2, 1865 at Hatcher's Run, committed April 5 to Old Capitol Prison, Washington, D. C., sent to Johnson's Island, Ohio April 9, released on Oath June 18, 1865, description on enlistment: Single, 18 year old Farmer, born in Alabama, resident of Yellow Creek, Ala., dark complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, 5' 9"
