Forrest did not get his Mobile Depot flags until July 1864 after Brice's Crossroads. In that battle there is documented use of First Nationals by Forrest and even some home made Second Nationals such as the 18th Mississippi Battalion who lost their flag to one of the Illinois infantry regiments there. The 7th Tennessee Cavalry also had a Second National at Brice's.
