Clay & all,
This Flag is totally legitimate.
It was made in Richmond and presented to
the Battery in August 1864.
It was saved at the end of the War by Pvt.
William C. Ahern, whose name appears on the
Flag in the hoist.
Ahern carried this flag to several Reunions and
in 1916 he donated the Flag to the Louisiana
Room of the Museum of the Confederacy in
Richmond. It was listed on that Room's Inventory
as late as 1956.
The flag was stolen from the MOC in the early 1970's and has bounced around from one "collector" to another since then.
Buyer Beware!!!!!
The current owner should do the right thing
and give it back to its rightful owners...The MOC!
