Early flag of Smyth Rifle Greys, 48th Virginia

"Mrs. Arthur Cummings of Abingdon, Virginia made a flag of her wedding dress, presenting it to Captain Greever near Aspenvale; this flag was of the earliest design, and was so much like the Union flag that it was ordered to be taken out of the army, and its use discontinued. It is in the possession of my daughter, Virginia."
