I found this ad for a "Concert and Levee" to raise money for the University Grays Flag (Co. A, 11th Miss. Inf.), in the Oxford Intelligencer, April 3, 1861. In the same issue of the paper was the following notice:

"Concert and Levell by the Young Ladies - The young ladies of Oxford, noble, patriotic, benevolent damsels, propose giving a vocal and instrumental Concert and Levee, on to-morrow evening, at the Town Hall, the proceeds to be applied to the purchase of materials for a flag to be presented by them to the University Grays. This company of brave young men deserve a flag, and should have received one ere this. We hope to see a crowded house to-morrow evening. The music will be worth more than the price of admission, while you will be contributing to a laudable, patriotic object. Tickets may be procured, at any time to-morrow, at the stores in town. Admission fee, fifty cents."

I found a write-up about the Concert and Levee in the April 10, 1861, edition of the Oxford Intelligencer:

"The Concert and Levee - On Thursday evening last, the Concert and Levee at the Town Hall came off, as advertised. The whole affair was gotten up in excellent style and conducted in a masterly manner. The music was well selected and scientifically performed - Misses Andrews, Baileys, and Stockard holding the principal parts. They each acquitted themselves with great credit and the execution of their respective pieces elicited hearty applause. Much credit is due to Dr. Andrews for the handsome manner in which he superintended the evening's entertainment...We regret, exceedingly, that the audience was not so large as it should have been. Two societies met on that evening, which many of our citizens felt compelled to attend, and therefore, the number was small at the concert. We learn that the profits of the entertainment amounted to about fifty-one dollars"
