Re: 11th Tennessee / 29th Tennessee

Thanks Ken. I did do some more homework on this guy Edgar Dreux (Drew). It seems he originally joined Watson's Battery but was let out (along with 45 other men of the unit) of this unit in late 1861. He went into Co. B of the Pointe Coupee Artillery, spent a year as an Asst. Engineer on fortifications, returned to the PCA and like you said, was under arrest in Demopolis, AL for insubordination in April 1864. His Provost was the 29th Tenn and they were impressed with the young man and asked him to join their ranks, which he did and moved out with them. He had distinguished service at Kennessaw, Peach Tree Creek and Jonesboro in Co. G. In Sept. the 29th was consolidated with the 11th Tenn., thus the connection with Gordon, etc. There is an excellent writeup also in Confederate Veteran Magazine (1894) p. 85 - "Brave P. E. Drew and His Fate". His full name was Pierre Edgar Dreux and was the youngest brother of Guy and Charles D. Dreux. I'll also check out the writeup at Tulane on my next visit. Good story and glad I found this article. Also thanks to Jack Rogers for pointing me to the Confederate Veteran article. There is a newspaper picture of the flag on the 11th Tennessee website: http://11thtennessee.com/photos.html

Appreciate the help.
