Re:32nd Ala

Ben,
This flag was part of a Brigade purchase
by Gibson's Louisiana Brigade.
In mid November 1863 Gen. Randal
Gibson was cutting orders for a officer
to go down to Mobile and order them.
On Nov. 11th Five hundred dollars was
requisitioned to pay for those flags.
Doubtful that the officer could have traveled
to Mobile; ordered the flags, paid for them;
had them completed and returned before
November 25th
Interesting enough all but one of these flags
survives. Even more interesting is the absence
of battle damage on any of them.
I believe the 2nd nationals were used as parade
flags. There is evidence that the Brigade was
also issued BF's at Dalton. These, do indeed
show battle damage.
