Certainly no unit flags were ever printed in the South that I have ever seen.
As I mentioned there was a New York City firm (Sarah McFadden?) that printed patriotic Palmetto flags for shipment to Charleston in early 1861. I have some period accounts of that taking place.
I am not a student of political banners and know that those of the South tended to be painted by people like Jackson Belknap of Mobile before the war. I was not aware that printed flags dated to the 1840s - thanks - that's god to know.
