Interesting... Awhile back I was trying to locate any surviving flag contributed to the 46th Va as part of some other research.. nothing was found... Will have to do some file digging for if memory serves correctly I dont think the 46th Va was at 3d Winchester... they were in Wise's Brigade... In that time frame they would have been sitting about in the Petersburg trenches.... Not amongst the forces in the valley.

"Regimental".... Just an observation but have found that many of the descriptive terms and phrases used in battle reports and media accounts tend to vary and sometimes be genericly applied. Lots of the termed "regimental", "ensign", and/or "battle flag" statements were found not to be what we today might call, consider, or classify a given flag... so personally tend to only view it at generic face value unless confirmed otherwise... Just an opinion and observation...
