Unfortunately, there is no documentation for any flag issued to the 43rd MS Infantry. It's eleven companies probably each had a locally-made flag when those companies were formed, but none that are documented survive, to the best of my knowledge. For a regimental flag, they literally could have had (at various times) a Bonnie Blue, a Magnolia Flag, a Van Dorn Flag, a 1st- or 2nd-National Flag (probably 12-star/Mobile/Cameron-type), a Dept. of MS & East LA Flag, or an Army of Tennessee Flag. A Miss Helen Cozart/Cozzart even made the regiment a flag -- pattern unknown -- in the Spring of 1864 and presented it to them (via courier) while they were on the way to the Atlanta Campaign. Sorry that I could not help you more, as I am a flag nut. FYI, Pelican Press of Gretna, LA, will be publishing a full-scale regimental history of the 43rd MS Infantry, aka "the Camel Regiment," possibly as soon as this year, according to my 43rd MS co-historian and actual author of the book, Hon. Scott Bell of the TX Division, SCV.
